Nicosia: President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides will pay Kazakhstan an official visit on the 3rd of June, marking the first official visit of a President of the Republic of Cyprus to the country.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a written statement by Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou detailed that President Christodoulides will be accompanied by members of the Council of Ministers and a business delegation. The President and his team are scheduled to travel to Kazakhstan on June 2, utilizing the first direct flight connecting the two nations.
During this landmark visit, President Christodoulides is set to engage in a tete-a-tete meeting with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan. This will be followed by expanded discussions between the delegations from both countries. A significant highlight of the visit includes President Tokayev bestowing the 'Order of Friendship' state decoration upon President Christodoulides.
In the presence of both Presidents, several Memoranda of Understanding will be signed, covering various sectors such as Higher Education and Research, Culture, Sports, Information and Communication Technologies, Cybersecurity, and e-Government. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding will be formalized between the Cyprus-Kazakhstan Chambers of Commerce.
Following these agreements, the two leaders will address the media. President Christodoulides is also expected to attend an official lunch hosted by President Tokayev. Later, the Cypriot President will participate in the Cyprus-Kazakhstan Business Forum at the Astana International Economic Center and visit the Alem A.I. International Center for Artificial Intelligence.
Furthermore, President Christodoulides will inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev also in attendance. Accompanying the President will be Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry Michalis Damianos, Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy Nikodemos Damianos, Director of his Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, the Deputy Government Spokesman, and other officials.
The President's official visit is set to conclude with his return to Cyprus on Thursday, June 4.
