Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, covering an 8-kilometer seaward radius, for the period from 1800 on August 27, 2026, to 1800 on August 28, 2026. The forecast suggests mainly fine weather with some local increases in low cloud coverage, particularly overnight and during the morning. Fog and mist patches are anticipated, especially over the southern and eastern coastal areas.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the current atmospheric pressure is recorded at 1007hPa, with a seasonal low-pressure system influencing the area. Visibility is expected to remain good overall, though it may reduce to moderate or poor in misty conditions and become very poor in foggy areas. The sea surface temperature is reported to be 29°C, and no warnings have been issued for the period.
The wind and sea conditions for various coasts are as follows: On the West Coast, northwest winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort are expected at night, becoming northwesterly to northerly near the coast. In the morning, winds will shift to southwest to northwest, maintaining 3 to 4 Beaufort, with conditions becoming slight by the afternoon. On the South Coast, winds will range from southwest to west at 3 to 4 Beaufort at night, and variable winds of 3 Beaufort are expected. By the afternoon, winds will increase to 4 to 5, locally reaching 5 Beaufort.
For the East Coast, southwest to west winds of 3 Beaufort are forecasted at night, transitioning gradually to southeast to southwest winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort by morning. The afternoon will see winds increase from south to southwest, reaching up to 4 to 5 Beaufort locally. On the North Coast, south to southwest winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort at night will shift to southwest to northwest by morning, with similar conditions in the afternoon, locally reaching up to 5 Beaufort. The sea state across all coasts is expected to remain smooth to slight throughout the period.
