Copenhagen: Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, is set to participate in the informal European Council in Copenhagen, taking place on October 1 and 2. He is also scheduled to conduct a series of meetings with key figures, including Switzerland’s President, the NATO Secretary-General, and Denmark’s Prime Minister.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a statement from Victoras Papadopoulos, Director of the President’s Press Office, outlined that President Christodoulides will join the Council meeting early in the afternoon of October 1 to discuss EU Security and Defence. He will later engage in talks concerning the situation in Ukraine.
In the evening, President Christodoulides is expected to attend a dinner hosted by the Danish royal couple, honoring leaders from the European Political Community. On October 2, he will participate in the Plenary of the European Political Community and engage in a debate focused on economic security.
Following these discussions, President Christodoulides will hold bilateral meetings with several leaders, including Switzerland’s President Karin Keller-Sutter, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu, and Albert II, Prince of Monaco. He will also be present at the closing proceedings of the Plenary.
On the morning of October 3, President Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, followed by expanded talks between the delegations from Cyprus and Denmark. Accompanying him in Copenhagen are the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, the Director of the Presidential Press Office, and other officials.
