President assures patients’ association of his determination for a smooth operation of GeSY

President Nicos Anastasiades assured the patients’ association (OSAK) on Monday of his firm will and determination for a National Health System (GeSY) which will operate smoothly for the benefit of the society. The President met with an OSAK delegation at the Presidential Palace, on the occasion of the European Day for the patients’ rights, in the presence of Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Niovi Parisinou said in a written statement that the President briefed the delegation on the bill for the patient’s advocate which will better safeguard the rights of patients. The bill is expected to be tabled at the Cyprus Parliament in the next weeks.

Parisinou also said that the President informed OSAK about the Ministry’s decision to set up an application through which the patients could rate the health services they get.

Moreover President Anastasiades agreed to increase the annual funding of OSAK.

OSAK chairman Marios Kouloumas expressed the hope that the patients’ advocate will be introduced soon for the benefit of patients and their rights to health services.
