President Anastasiades was honored with the Golden Star, the highest honor of the consular world

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, was honored with the highest honor of the consular world, the Gold Star of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC).

The award was given today, Thursday, at the Presidential Palace for the “outstanding work of President Anastasiades in the ten-year administration of Cyprus, his contribution to the global political scene and his kind and impeccable cooperation with the honorary consuls of the island.” It is added that the award was given in the presence of five members of the World Federation of Consuls who came to Cyprus specifically for this purpose.

The award was given by the newly elected, at the recent conference in Limassol, President of FICAC, Nicos Margaropoulos. The proposal for the award to President Anastasiades belongs to the honorary vice-president of FICAC, Costakis Lefkaritis, a proposal that was unanimously accepted by the board of the Federation.

The President of the Republic thanked the World Federation of Consuls stating that it is an honor, which he accepts “on behalf of all the Cypriot people in recognition of the effort we have made to deal with a multitude of problems over the last decade.”

Reading the resolution in English, Margaropoulos said that “the Board of Directors of FICAC – The World Federation of Consuls has unanimously decided to present its highest honor, the FICAC Goldstar, to His Excellency Nicos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus for his support of peaceful processes, diplomatic and political stability, his commitment to eradicating intolerance so that all can live together in harmony and for his commitment to the defense of the value of world peace.”

Besides, according to a related press release by the World Federation of Consuls, earlier the FICAC delegation awarded an honorary plaque to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Kasoulides, for his rich work and contribution during his term and of course his impeccable cooperation as chief diplomat with Consular Corps of Cyprus.

It is noted that the FICAC Gold Star was established in 2007 and is the highest honor of the consular body awarded to sitting heads of state, religious leaders and other personalities in recognition of their outstanding work.
