An all hands meeting on the “high priority issue” of migration with the participation of ministers, officials and bureaucrats will be held on Holy Tuesday, 19 April at the Presidential Palace, chaired by President Nicos Anastasiades.
Present will be the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Justice, Defence, the Attorney-General as well as the Police and National Guard chiefs and ministry officials.
The Director of the President’s Press Office, Andreas Iosif said in a press release the “migration issue is a “top priority issue” as Cyprus is an EU country which receives the most migrants in relation to its population.
Citing evidence provided by the relevant services of the Republic, Iosif said the largest percentage of asylum applicants are persons who are systematically and in an organised manner, promoted by Turkey to the government-controlled areas of the Republic through the occupied north.
