Berlin: Cypriot Paralympic Champion, Karolina Pelendritou, added two more medals to her rich collection, winning a gold and a silver one at the IDM Berlin, in her first competition for 2025.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the three-time Paralympic gold medalist, in her first participation in an event after the “Paris 2024” Paralympic Games, reached the finals in both the 50m freestyle and the 50m breaststroke, winning gold and silver respectively.
Pelendritou first entered the pool for the 50m freestyle final, where she clocked 30.63 – while her morning preliminary time was 30.77 – to secure first place and clinch the gold medal.
Just a few minutes later, she returned to the pool for the 50m breaststroke. Once again, she improved her preliminary time (37.44), finishing with 37.12 to claim the silver medal.
Pelendritou also competed at the IDM Berlin in the 100m breaststroke preliminaries, where she finished first with a time of 1:24.06. However, she did not take part in the final, as it had been pre-decided in consultation with her coach that she would compete in the event for training purposes only.
