NSC examined regional crisis data and impact on Cyprus, says Gov. Spokesperson

The data in relation to the unfolding crisis in the region as it evolves and how any escalation may affect Cyprus were presented and analysed during today’s meeting of the National Security Council, chaired by President Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said in a written statement on Tuesday afternoon.

He added that within this framework, existing and further preventive measures that can be taken to adequately prepare the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus in a number of areas that may affect the country were assessed, while the meeting also focused on Cyprus’ role in providing humanitarian assistance and its significant contribution to efforts to repatriate foreign nationals through Cyprus.

The NSC was attended by the Ministers of Interior, Defence, Justice and Public Order, the Government Spokesperson, the Deputy Minister to the President, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President of the Republic, the Director of the Office of the President of the Republic, the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic, the Chief of the National Guard, the Chief of the Police, the Commander of the Civil Defence, the National Security Advisor and the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport, Communications and Works, the Government Spokesman added.
