Monks at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery in Ukraine are refusing to leave despite a government eviction order. The monks are members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was under the authority of the Russian Orthodox Church before severing links after the Russian invasion. But Ukraine’s government believes it is still de facto dependent on Moscow.
