Military service offers sense of responsibility, Cyprus President tells young recruits

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has told young recruits at the National Guard that the military service offers them the important sense of responsibility and pride which they will have for the rest of their lives.

In a message on Twitter, President Anastasiades, wished young recruits who were sworn in today, a good, creative and usuful military service.

Military service, he noted, “also offers something else, more important: a sense of responsibility and pride which they will have for their whole life!”

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
