The 37th Marathon of Love for the persons who went missing during the Turkish invasion against Cyprus in 1974 will take place this week.

This year’s Marathon of Love entitled «Investigation into the fate of all missing persons of Cyprus-Aid the work of the CMP» begins on Monday and will wrap up on Sunday 15 of May.

It is organised by the Pancyprian Organisation of the Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons and the Foundation for the Marathon of Love for the Missing Persons.

The Marathon of Love will include a series of events and activities as well as petitions that will be submitted to international organisations and foreign Embassies.

The organisers urge citizens and states at European and international level to join forces with the relatives of the missing persons from Greece and Cyprus and give the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) every possible information and aid so thatthe decades – long suffering of the relatives comes to an end.

They also call upon Turkey to enter into a substantive cooperation with the CMP by providing information and access where needed to facilitate its work so that it can yield results.

They stress that ‘showing tolerance to intransigence perpetuates the humanitarian problem of the missing persons for almost half a century and constitutes a violation of cultural and humanitarian values at every level’.
