Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a weather forecast indicating that low pressure is currently affecting the sea area of Cyprus. The forecast, which is valid from 0600 on March 29, 2026, until 0600 on March 30, 2026, predicts mainly cloudy weather with occasional local showers and a risk of isolated thunderstorms. Additionally, thin dust is expected to remain in suspension until midday, impacting visibility across the region.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1001 hPa. Visibility is generally expected to be good, but it may deteriorate to moderate or poor conditions during showers. The sea surface temperature in the area is currently 18°C.
A significant weather warning, numbered 32, has been issued, valid from 12:00 to 18:00 local time on March 29. The warning highlights the presence of strong, near-gale southwesterly to westerly winds, ranging from force 6 to potentially reaching force 7 on the Beaufort scale. These winds are projected to affect the southwestern and, at times, the northern coastal areas of Cyprus. Consequently, the state of the sea is anticipated to be moderate, occasionally reaching rough conditions during this period.
