Cyprus Targets First Gas Sale to Europe via Egypt by 2027-2028, President Announces

Cyprus: Cyprus aims for the first sale of Cypriot natural gas to Europe via Egypt in 2027-2028, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides said on Sunday. According to Cyprus News Agency, the President made this announcement while speaking to the press after participating in the 'Run for Autism' charity race in Ayia Napa. He mentioned that his upcoming visit to Egypt would focus exclusively on energy issues, hinting at potential developments in the 'Kronos' field. President Christodoulides emphasized the significance of this energy collaboration, stating that there will be a signing related to the project during his visit. He recalled that Cyprus made its first natural gas discovery in 2011 within its exclusive economic zone, yet exploitation has not commenced. The President expressed confidence that Cyprus is on the right path, projecting the first sale of its natural gas to Europe through Egypt by 2027-2028.
