Lithuanian President expresses wish to further strengthen bilateral relations with Cyprus

President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda has expressed the wish that bilateral relations of Lithuania and Cyprus will be further strengthened.

The President, who received recently the credentials of new Cypriot Ambassador to Lithuania Petros Nakouzis, wished the Ambassador every success in his mission, expressing the wish that the bilateral relations of Lithuania and Cyprus will be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples, the press release ends.

According to an official press release, during the tete a tete meeting that followed, the Ambassador conveyed to President Nauseda the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, and expressed the gratitude of the Cypriot government for the principled attitude of the government of Lithuania in the efforts to reach a fair and sustainable solution of the Cyprus problem. A solution, he said, based on the parameters agreed by the United Nations.

He also informed the Lithuanian President about the lack of progress in relation to the Cyprus issue and about Turkey’s illegal actions against Cyprus.
