Nicosia: Kurdish activist Kenan Ayaz has been released from prison following the approval of a request by President Nikos Christodoulides. Ayaz had been in custody since March 2023 after being extradited to Germany and subsequently returned to Cyprus last year to complete his prison sentence.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides signed the approval for Ayaz's release on Friday. The decision marks the end of Ayaz's detention period, as he had been held since his extradition and return to Cyprus.
