Kassianidou to take part at Culture Ministers’ Council in Belgium

Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, travels to Belgium on Monday for the Council of Ministers of Culture.

During her visit the Deputy Minister will participate in an informal working dinner on Monday evening, in Antwerp, where the ways culture can help to strengthen the common cultural European identity, which is faced by recent geopolitical challenges, and the ways cultural institutions and new strategies could help will be discussed, a Deputy Ministry press release issued here today says.

It is added that during the Council held the following day in Brussels, Culture Ministers will have the opportunity to discuss how artificial intelligence is applied in the cultural and creative sector, but also how EU policy and programmes could help cultural and creative agencies to take advantage of the potential of artificial intelligence.

On the sidelines of the Council’s proceedings, the Ministers of Culture are also expected to discuss measures to strengthen the audiovisual sector of each member
state.

Kassianidou will also take part in the High Level meeting for the ‘Twin it! 3D for Europe’s Culture’ Campaign. The programme invited all EU Member States’ Ministries of Culture to submit at least one cultural heritage asset digitised in three-dimensional (3D) format, creating a pan-European collection of iconic and high-quality 3D cultural heritage assets.

The monuments that the Deputy Minister will present on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus are the Castle of Paphos, the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia and a fishing boat that is an excellent example of Greek maritime tradition.

The Deputy Minister returns to Cyprus on May 15, the press release concludes.
