Nicosia: The Industrial Production Index showed a 3% increase from January to July 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year, as per data released by the Statistical Service on Monday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the most notable growth rates during this period were in the sectors of water collection, treatment and supply, which grew by 9%, manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products at 8.7%, manufacturing of wood and products of wood and cork (excluding furniture) at 7.6%, and manufacturing of rubber and plastic products at 7%.
On the other hand, production declines were recorded in manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing, which fell by 13.6%, as well as in the manufacturing of textiles, wearing apparel and leather products, which decreased by 5.2%. Electricity supply also saw a reduction, declining by 2.7%.
In July 2025, the Industrial Production Index reached 125.8 units (with a base of 2021=100), marking a 1.8% increase compared to July 2024. The manufacturing sector experienced a growth of 3.7% compared to the same month in the previous year. Increases were also noted in water supply and materials recovery, rising by 7.6%. However, negative changes were observed in the electricity supply and mining and quarrying sectors, which saw declines of 8% and 1.8%, respectively.
Within the manufacturing sector, significant positive changes were reported in the manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products, which rose by 10.5%, rubber and plastic products by 9.2%, and wood and products of wood and cork (excluding furniture) and other non-metallic mineral products both by 6.5%. Conversely, the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing, along with textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products, experienced notable declines, falling by 11.9% and 9.8%, respectively.
