Nicosia: The Index of Industrial Output Prices for August 2025 reached 122.8 units (base 2021=100), marking a 0.9% decrease compared to the same month last year, according to Statistic Service.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the index observed an increase in the sectors of mining and quarrying (8.6%) and manufacturing (1.1%), while decreases were recorded in electricity supply (-8.2%) and water supply and materials recovery (-5.2%).
Examining the manufacturing sector by division of economic activity in August 2025, compared to August 2024, there were notable increases in the manufacture of paper and paper products and printing (4.4%), furniture, other manufacturing and repair and installation of machinery and equipment (4.3%), and textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products (2.9%). Additionally, the manufacture of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment saw a rise of 2.6%, refined petroleum products, chemicals, and pharmaceutical products increased by 2.5%, and machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment rose by 2%. Conversely, a slight decrease was noted in the manufacture of food products, beverages, and tobacco products (-0.2%).
When compared with July 2025, the index remained stable. Stability was observed in the manufacturing sector, with minor increases in mining and quarrying (0.8%) and electricity supply (0.1%), while a slight decline was noted in water supply and materials recovery (-0.2%).
Over the period from January to August 2025, the index exhibited a 0.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
