Cyprus House President Annita Demetriou sent a letter to Rik Daems, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe informing him over the recent Turkish provocation in the fenced off town of Varosha.
Briefing him on the announcements made following the illegal visit to the occupied areas by Turkey`s President Tayyip Erdogan, Demetriou denounced the statement made by the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar on Varosha and in particular the partial lifting of the military status in the area.
She said that this violates the international law and the UN Security Council resolutions adding that Turkey`s call on the legal residents of the town to appeal to the “Immovable Property Commission“ is yet another provocation.
