Nicosia: The first joint forced-return flight of third-country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus, conducted in collaboration with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), was executed on 26 August, as reported by the Cyprus Police statement.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the operation successfully repatriated 35 individuals who were illegally residing within the Republic of Cyprus. Additionally, the flight included 15 third-country nationals returned by Greek authorities and one by Bulgarian authorities, culminating in a total of 51 repatriated individuals.
The operation was orchestrated by the Aliens and Immigration Unit, with significant contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection. Authorities from Greece and Bulgaria actively participated, showcasing a cooperative international effort.
From the start of the year until 26 August 2026, the Republic of Cyprus's competent authorities have managed to repatriate a total of 6,027 third-country nationals back to their countries of origin through both voluntary and forced-return processes.
