Firefighters intervene after extreme weather in Milan

Firefighters continued to intervene on Sunday in relation to the extreme weather in Milan and the surrounding area on Saturday afternoon.

In the morning around 100 operations were said to be underway after heavy storms and strong winds uprooted trees and damaged roofs and caused disruptions on local rail networks.

This is on top of the 200 or so interventions made in immediate response to the extreme weather events on Saturday.

There are also fears of further damage and disruptions since more extreme weather is forecast for Sunday.

The water levels in the Lambro and Seveso rivers are currently said to be within normal limits.
