F1: Sainz wins Singapore Grand Prix

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, leading from start to finish to secure the Italian glamour team’s first win of the season.

McLaren’s Lando Norris came second and Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third.

It was the first Formula One race this year not won by a Red Bull.

Sainz’s victory also ended world champion and runaway championship leader Max Verstappen’s record run of 10 consecutive Formula One victories.

Verstappen, who started 11th on the grid, finished fifth while Sainz’s Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc came fourth.

It is Ferrari’s first win in 26 races.

The last came at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, which Leclerc won.

It is Sainz’s second Formula One victory after his triumph for Ferrari last year in Britain.
