European Leaders Welcome Ceasefire Agreement Between United States and Iran

Brussels: European leaders, including President Macron, Prime Minister Meloni, Chancellor Merz, and others, have expressed their support for the recently concluded two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. This agreement, facilitated by Pakistan and other partners, is seen as a critical step towards a lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the European leaders emphasized the necessity of diplomatic efforts to achieve a swift and enduring end to the hostilities. They urged all involved parties to make rapid progress towards a negotiated settlement, which they believe is essential for safeguarding Iranian civilians and ensuring regional security. Additionally, the leaders highlighted the importance of the ceasefire in averting a potential global energy crisis.

The European governments have committed to supporting diplomatic initiatives, maintaining close communication with the United States and other partners. They have also called for adherence to the ceasefire terms in Lebanon and pledged to contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
