Brussels: The European Commission has announced a public consultation for citizens, travelers, and stakeholders to express their opinions on the revision of the Air Services Regulation. This framework governs access to the EU internal aviation market, determining operational freedom for EU airlines and consumer ticket price displays.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the review aims to ensure that the air services sector remains competitive, maintains connectivity, and protects consumer interests. Key areas for consideration include hand luggage allowances and measures to mitigate disruptions during air traffic controller strikes. Initially established in 1992 and revised in 2008, the Air Services Regulation has been crucial in developing the EU’s internal aviation market, fostering sector growth and enhancing connectivity across the EU, including remote regions.
The consultation, open until November 4, 2025, is hosted on the Have Your Say portal. Feedback will contribute to the Impact Assessment on the Air Services Regulation’s revision, which the Commission is currently conducting.
