Nicosia: The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extreme maximum temperatures expected on Thursday. The alert was announced on Wednesday afternoon and will be effective from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. During this period, temperatures are anticipated to soar to approximately 45 degrees Celsius inland and about 37 degrees Celsius in the higher mountain areas.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Department has also issued a yellow warning starting from 10 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. During this timeframe, temperatures are expected to decrease, with inland areas cooling to around 28 degrees Celsius, coastal regions to approximately 27 degrees Celsius, and higher mountainous areas to around 25 degrees Celsius.
