Brussels:The European Commission has disbursed £2.9 billion to Ukraine to support its financial stability and public administration amidst ongoing defense efforts against Russian aggression. This funding includes £800 million under the Ukraine Facility component of the Ukraine Support Loan.
According to Cyprus News Agency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of this support, stating that it aids Ukraine's financial stability and supports investments for future recovery. The disbursement is part of the EU's main instrument, the Ukraine Facility, which aims to aid Ukraine's recovery, reform agenda, and progress towards EU membership. The total EU support under the Ukraine Plan now exceeds £32 billion.
This latest disbursement follows Ukraine's successful reforms in strategic sectors such as judiciary, financial markets, and energy. Ukraine fulfilled several reform steps related to the eighth instalment, enabling this financial support.
Looking ahead, Ukraine has £33.7 billion available for support in 2026, including funds for defense capacity and budget support. Successful implementation of agreed reforms remains key to accessing these funds. The EU remains committed to the £90 billion Ukraine Support Loan for 2026 and 2027.
