Deputy Minister to the President Presents “Minds in Cyprus” Scheme to Diaspora

Nicosia: Deputy Minister to the President Irene Pikis presented on Wednesday the government’s action plan for talent repatriation, named “Minds in Cyprus”, to overseas Cypriots who convened in Nicosia for the annual world conference.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Pikis discussed the progress achieved since the initiative’s launch in London last May, highlighting that “Minds in Cyprus” serves as a bridge that unites people, ideas, and possibilities. She emphasized that the strategy transcends mere exploitation of incentives, focusing instead on love for the homeland and the vision of creation in Cyprus.

Pikis introduced a new digital tool by the Labor Ministry that connects professionals with job opportunities and mentioned the updated website www.mindsincyprus.com, which offers repatriation guidance and will be progressively enhanced with additional information.

She also detailed the government’s expanded tax incentives intended to catalyze talent repatriation, along with administrative facilitations like simplified procedures for professionals and families of repatriates, aimed at easing the return process.

Additionally, Pikis highlighted a recent Cabinet decision enhancing educational support measures for the families of repatriates. She noted the positive trajectory of Cyprus’s economy, which boasts growth rates above the EU average, historically low unemployment, and robust momentum in sectors like technology, innovation, and research.

The Deputy Minister stressed that Cyprus is undergoing transformation and that the diaspora’s involvement is crucial in realizing this vision. She reiterated that the success of the initiative hinges on the diaspora’s participation and welcomed all Cypriots abroad eager to contribute.
