Nicosia: The Nicosia District Local Government Organisation and the Thessaloniki Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYATH) signed a contract valued at £257,699, lasting 38 months, to leverage EYATH's expertise in Geographical Information Systems (GIS). According to Cyprus News Agency, the collaboration aims to develop a modern geoinformation environment to enhance NDLGO's ability to record, monitor, and manage its networks and infrastructure more effectively. The project, building on a Memorandum of Understanding signed last May, includes digitising and integrating data on water supply, sewerage, and stormwater networks. It also involves creating a unified geospatial database, developing an Enterprise GIS infrastructure, and training staff, while employing EYATH's expertise in asset management, customer care, and business process optimisation. NDLGO President Constantinos Yiorkadjis highlighted the need for modern solutions in water resource management and emphasized digital transformation as a means to bet ter manage infrastructure and respond to citizens' needs. He noted the importance of collaborating with EYATH to create a modern digital infrastructure for network management. EYATH Managing Director Anthimos Amanatidis stressed the significance of partnerships in meeting contemporary challenges, ensuring water supply and sewerage services. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with NDLGO would flourish and potentially extend to other areas, supporting mutual benefits and technological advancements for both organisations.
