Dep. Minister Kassianidou Inaugurates Cyprus Pavilion at Belgrade International Book Fair

Belgrade: Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, inaugurated on Saturday the Cyprus pavilion at the 68th International Book Fair, the largest exhibition in the Balkans. A total of 14 countries are participating this year in the Belgrade Fair, which opened its gates on October 25th.

According to Cyprus News Agency, addressing the event, the Deputy Minister of Culture highlighted the significance of Cyprus being chosen as this year’s honored country at the Fair. This recognition provides Cyprus with a unique opportunity to present elements of its culture and literary creation through the work of its authors and publishers to a wide audience from around the world.

Dr. Kassianidou noted that 36 books by 27 Cypriot authors have been translated into Serbian, which demonstrates the growing literary relationship between the two countries. She emphasized that the presence of Cyprus at the exhibition could create cultural bridges and open new horizons for productive dialogue and collaborations, potentially leading to more translations of works by Cypriot and Serbian authors.

Cyprus’ participation in this year’s event is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the presence of Cypriot literature abroad and promote Cypriot authors and publishers internationally, the press release stated. The Cyprus pavilion will feature, until November 2nd, works by Cypriot authors, translators of Cypriot works, readings of excerpts, and discussions on contemporary Cypriot literature and publishing production.
