Cyprus Faces Prolonged Drought as October Records No Rainfall

Nicosia: Drought in Cyprus is prolonged as October brought no rain on the island faced with serious water scarcity. Dams remain empty and temperatures are higher than normal.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Senior Officer at Cyprus Meteorological Service Michalis Mouskos has informed that weather conditions will remain the same as in previous days. Clouds will appear in the afternoon hours over mountainous areas and temperatures will be around 26 to 28°C for the next few days, he told CNA.

As regards the dams, according to the latest figures from the Department of Water Development, the overall occupancy rate is only 11.1%, compared to 26.4% in the corresponding period last year.
