Defence Ministry announces conclusion of EUNOMIA-4/2023 joint aeronautical exercise [VIDEO]

The Ministry of Defence has announced the successful completion of the four-nation aeronautical exercise "EUNOMIA-4/2023" on Thursday. Organised by Cyprus, Greece, France, and Italy, this exercise aimed to strengthen regional stability, maritime security, and ensure the freedom of navigation in international waters. According to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Cyprus (GEEF), the execution of the "EUNOMIA" exercise for the fourth consecutive year reaffirms the commitment and capability of Cyprus, Greece, France, and Italy to cooperate in maintaining regional stability and maritime security. The exercise took place aboard the French Navy frigate "CHEVALIER PAUL" and was coordinated by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The event was attended by the French Ambassador, Salina Grenet-Catalano, Defence Minister Michalis Georgallas, and the Chief of the National Guard, Major General Georgios Tsitsikostas, along with officials from the participating countries. During the exercise, participants engaged in various scenarios, including maritime interdiction operations, countering asymmetric threats, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine operations, and various other operational activities. Additionally, Search and Rescue operations were conducted under the coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC). Upon the completion of the final phase, the Chief of the National Guard noted that besides conveying strategic messages, the exercise contributed to the enhancement of interoperability among naval and air forces at operational and tactical levels. It also improved the ability to coordinate joint actions in international waters, with a wide range of naval operations successfully executed during the exercise.
