Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides has said that with the Strategic Compass, the EU will further develop and strengthen its role in the world. Strategic dialogues among member states are still ongoing and the process is expected to be completed during the French EU presidency in the first half of 2022, according to Petrides.
Addressing a dinner he hosted on Thursday for participants in a conference co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Cyprus Office of the European Parliament, the European Security and Defence College and the European Citizens Association, the Minister stressed that the EU cannot afford to be a spectator in a world of increasing global political competition.
