Nicosia:The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Cyprus rose to 4.1% in August 2026 from 4.0% in July, as reported by Eurostat.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the number of unemployed people in Cyprus was estimated at 22,000 in August, compared to 21,000 in July. In August 2025, the unemployment rate was 4.2%, with the number of unemployed also at 22,000.
Eurostat data revealed that the unemployment rate in Cyprus was 3.8% in May 2026 and 3.9% in June. Youth unemployment for those under 25 in Cyprus was 11.9% in June, down from 13.0% in August 2025.
For unemployment by sex, the seasonally adjusted rate for men remained constant at 3.7% from July to August 2026, a decrease from 4.0% in August 2025. Women saw an increase to 4.5% in August from 4.3% in July, with the rate also at 4.5% in August 2025.
Across the EU, the unemployment rate stayed at 6.1% in August 2026, the same as in July, but increased from 6.0% in August 2025. In the euro area, the rate remained at 6.4%, up from 6.3% the previous year.
