Nicosia:The national issues of Cyprus and Palestine must be resolved in accordance with international law, stated Palestinian Ambassador Abdalla Attari following a military parade in Nicosia marking Cyprus Independence Day.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Ambassador Attari expressed hopes for the Cypriot people similar to those for the Palestinian people, emphasizing the necessity for resolutions to align with international law and United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.

He further accused Israel of engaging in ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and claimed that genocide continues in Gaza.

Cyprus has faced division since 1974, following Turkey's invasion and occupation of its northern third. Despite numerous rounds of United Nations-led peace negotiations, a resolution has yet to be achieved, with the most recent talks in July 2017 at Crans-Montana, Switzerland, ending without agreement.
