Nicosia: The Shipping Deputy Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis, recently concluded a significant visit to Hong Kong, where she participated in the Global Shipping and Trade Summit. The summit was organized by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) in collaboration with the Hong Kong Government’s Transport and Logistics Bureau and the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, following an invitation from Mr. Emanuele Grimaldi, the President of the ICS. Discussions at the summit centered around the resilience of the shipping industry during crises, focusing on both challenges and opportunities facing the maritime industry.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Ms. Hadjimanolis engaged with local government officials, as well as representatives from the local and global shipping community. She was accompanied by the Ambassador of Cyprus to China and the Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Hong Kong. A highlight of her visit was a meeting with the President of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, whe
re they discussed global shipping challenges and potential synergies for collaboration.
Further, the summit provided a platform for dialogue between Ms. Hadjimanolis, her counterparts, and international shipping community representatives. She also had the opportunity to exchange views on the future of global shipping with Mr. Emanuele Grimaldi, the ICS President.
During a press conference, the Deputy Minister highlighted the advantages of the Cypriot shipping registry and the investment opportunities in Cyprus’s shipping sector. She emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments and the private sector to ensure the shipping industry’s resilience and growth.
