Cyprus reports 2 deaths and 2,698 new COVID cases, 164 patients in hospitals

Cyprus Health Ministry on Monday announced 2 deaths due to COVID and 2,698 new cases. The number of patients in hospitals is 164 of whom 40 in serious condition. Figures show that 68.91% of the patients are unvaccinated. Total deaths rose to 825 and of cases to 308,917. The positivity rate stands at 2.04%.

The deceased are a female 90 years old who passed away yesterday and a male 80 years old who died today. Of the 40 patients in serious condition 13 are intubated in an ICU and 27 in an ACU. Moreover the Ministry said that 27 patients who are no longer infectious are still intubated in an ICU.

Today a total of 132,177 tests were carried out of which 9,456 were PCR and 342 cases were detected with the positivity rate at 3.62%. Rapid tests were 122,721 and 2,356 came back positive (positivity rate 1.92%). In the framework of contact tracing 389 PCR tests were
