Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Ioannis Papameletiou, has said that the non settlement of the Cyprus problem for 47 years now constitutes a huge challenge for the country itself, Greece and the whole international community.
In a televised message on the occasion of the Greek Independence Day, Papameletiou also noted that the position of principles on developments in Ukraine must be fully implemented in the case of Cyprus as well, as the latter has also been a victim of invasion and occupation.
Papameletiou underlined that for Greece the Cyprus problem constitutes the primary national issue and that lifting the repercussions of the invasion and ending occupation, with full restoration of the international and European legal order, remains a very firm objective.
