Cyprus President underlines will to resume settlement talks while top UN official pledges to do his best for the process

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades reiterated the will of the Greek Cypriot side to resume negotiations for a Cyprus settlement, during the first meeting, on Friday morning, at the Presidential Palace, with Colin Stewart, the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

Stewart from his part stated that he will do his best to help the process on the Cyprus issue, noting that it is too early to say if he optimistic or not.

In a written statement about the meeting, Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos said that President Anastasiades presented the positions of the Greek Cypriot side on the Cyprus issue, reiterating the will and commitment for the resumption of the negotiation process.
