Cyprus President to Join Crucial EU Teleconferences on Ukraine

Nicosia: Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, will participate on Tuesday in a series of teleconferences with European leaders on the developments in Ukraine, according to a written statement by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides is set to engage in teleconferences with European leaders focused exclusively on the developments surrounding the Ukrainian issue. At 12.30pm, he will join a teleconference of the European People’s Party, during which the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to provide an update on Monday’s meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the US, which she attended along with heads of state and government of Europe.

Following this, at 1.30pm, President Christodoulides will participate in a video conference with the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ group. Subsequently, at 2pm, he will take part in a video conference for EU leaders, convened by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa. This meeting aims to assess discussions held in Washington regarding the situation in Ukraine, as concluded in the announcement.
