Brussels: An extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Representatives (COREPER II) is scheduled to take place in Brussels on Sunday afternoon, following developments related to Iran, according to a spokesperson for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, who briefed the press.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Presidency is also convening a remote meeting of the Working Party on Consular Affairs to examine the situation regarding European Union citizens in the region. This meeting will take place on Sunday, ahead of the meeting of EU Ambassadors, and before the extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council, via video conference, convened by the High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas.
The meetings are anticipated to focus on diplomatic strategies and consular measures necessary to address the unfolding situation and ensure the safety and interests of EU citizens. The response from the European Union is being closely watched, as the situation concerning Iran continues to evolve.
