Nicosia: The delivery of 529,000 doses of vaccines for foot-and-mouth (FMD) disease to Cyprus on Saturday was announced by EU Health Commissioner, Oliv©r V¡rhelyi, in a post, stressing that respect for biosecurity measures by everyone is essential.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Commissioner stated, 'Delivered. 529,000 doses of vaccines arrived today from the EU vaccine bank to Cyprus to help fight foot-and-mouth disease.' He further emphasized the European Commission's support for Cypriot authorities in their substantial efforts to curb the impact of the disease. V¡rhelyi highlighted the importance of adhering to strict biosecurity rules by all stakeholders to prevent the further spread of the disease.
The Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Ministry in Nicosia has reported that the Veterinary Services have organized the preservation of the vaccines under appropriate storage conditions. Additionally, the vaccines are set to be distributed to private veterinarians to aid in managing the outbreak effectively.
