Cyprus Parliament Approves Legislation for National Ambulance Agency

Cyprus: Cyprus Parliament on Thursday passed the law on the National Ambulance Agency and ambulance services, while also rejecting an AKEL amendment on the management of non-emergency cases. The legislation was approved by 33 MPs, while 12 AKEL MPs abstained.

According to Cyprus News Agency, House President Annita Demetriou congratulated the Ambulance Service and its staff, saying Parliament intends to support their work. The law regulates the provision of ambulance services in Cyprus and provides for the establishment of a National Ambulance Agency under the Ministry of Health, which will take over responsibility from the State Health Services Organisation. It aims to upgrade pre-hospital care, introduce uniform standards and improve the quality of services for the public.
