Cyprus Health Ministry announces the deaths of two COVID-19 patients and 1,459 new coronavirus cases on Sunday

Cyprus Health Ministry announced on Sunday the deaths of two COVID-19 patients and 1,459 new coronavirus cases. The positivity rate stands at 2.53%.

The total number of people who died due to COVID-19 is 977 and of confirmed cases 457,423.

Both patients who have died are women: a 74 year old one who passed away on April 10, and a 91 year old one who also lost her life on April 10.

Meanwhile, 207 COVID-19 patients are treated in hospitals. The condition of 29 of them is critical. Four are treated in an Intensive Treatment Unit without being intubated while 5 are intubated. Twenty are treated in an Increased Care Unit.

The percentage of those hospitalized, who have not been vaccinated, is 57.98%.

Twelve patients who have ceased to be contagious continue to be treated in an Intensive Treatment Unit, due to COVID-19, and are intubated.

A total of 57,728 tests were carried out.

The total number of PCR tests was 2,500. There were 96 positive cases and the positivity rate was 3.84%.

The total number of rapid tests was 55,228. There were 1,368 positive cases and the positivity rate was 2.47%.

During contact tracing a total of 1,513 PCR tests were done and 19 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 1.26%). Moreover, 454 rapid tests were carried out and 39 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 8.59%).

A total of 147 PCR tests were done at the private initiative and 20 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 13.61%). Moreover, 34,554 rapid tests were carried out and 795 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 2.3%).

Through the Health Ministry’s programmes 34,554 rapid tests were done and 795 positive cases were traced.

At the sampling points 31,884 rapid tests were carried out and 753 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 2.36%).

Moreover, 81 rapid tests were done in homes for the elders, where 2 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 2.47%).

In closed structures 2,135 rapid tests were carried out and one positive case was diagnosed (positivity rate 0.05%)
