New York:The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, engaged in 51 diplomatic meetings in New York alongside the UN General Assembly, aiming to enhance the Republic of Cyprus's international diplomatic presence.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Minister Kombos participated in a trilateral meeting with Greek and Jordanian counterparts and attended a High-Level Summit for Small States of Europe. He also joined a meeting between the President of Cyprus and the UAE's Minister of Industry. Kombos emphasized that these meetings were part of an effort to strengthen Cyprus€™s diplomatic footprint, and new cooperation memoranda were signed during the engagements.

Kombos stated that the focus is on strengthening Cyprus's state entity amid existing challenges. This involves developing relationships and creating a framework for presenting Cyprus as an equal member of the international community. He highlighted the necessity of continual efforts in this regard, irrespective of potential obstacles.

The week's diplomatic activities were seen as a platform for further developing bilateral relations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a post on X, highlighted the commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation at the Cyprus-Greece-Jordan trilateral meeting. Discussions included regional developments and promoting stability and prosperity.

Kombos also held a private meeting with the Jordanian Foreign Minister to discuss bilateral relations and regional stability. Additionally, a summit co-organized with Andorra focused on coordination among small European states, UN reform, and the election of the next UN Secretary-General.

Meetings with Kuwait, Armenia, Mauritania, and Egypt were also on Kombos's agenda. Discussions covered regional developments, bilateral relations, and cooperation in multilateral forums, with a reaffirmation of strategic partnerships, especially with Egypt in the context of regional stability and energy cooperation.
