Nicosia: Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, has congratulated Yvette Cooper and David van Weel for their appointment as UK Foreign Secretary and as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, respectively. “Congratulations Yvette Cooper on your appointment as Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom. Looking forward to continuing Cyprus-UK close cooperation and to strengthening our strategic partnership,” Kombos wrote on X.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Kombos also expressed his best wishes to his “good friend,” former Foreign Secretary David Lammy, on his new roles as Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Secretary of State for Justice, and Lord Chancellor. In another post on X, Kombos congratulated his “new colleague David van Weel on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Looking forward to close cooperation both bilaterally and within our EU family,” he wrote.
The Minister also conveyed his gratitude to former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Caspar Veldkamp, for their “fruitful cooperation.” Kombos expressed his best wishes for Veldkamp’s future endeavors.
