Nicosia: The electricity interconnection (GSI) is a project that will primarily benefit Cyprus, which is isolated in terms of energy, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday in response to questions during his press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Mitsotakis emphasized the necessity for Cyprus to demonstrate in practice its desire for this project. He noted, “Our intention is for the project to start and be completed,” and he expressed his commitment to ensuring that Athens and Nicosia align on this matter.
Mitsotakis also conveyed optimism that there would soon be clear signs from Cyprus indicating its commitment to the project, allowing it to advance to the next stage. He further remarked that the GSI was not the only high-priority project of its kind, highlighting similar projects aimed at connecting Crete, the Dodecanese islands, and Egypt.
