Nicosia:The proportion of individuals aged 16 and over in Cyprus who consumed alcohol daily was 1.9% in 2025, which is significantly lower than the EU average of 4.8%, as reported by Eurostat.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Eurostat's data also revealed that 16.1% of the population in Cyprus drank alcohol weekly, and 22.1% did so monthly. These figures compare to the EU averages of 19.2% for weekly consumption and 21.8% for monthly consumption.

Eurostat further noted that 20.7% of people aged 16 and over across the EU consumed alcohol less frequently than once a month. Additionally, 33.5% of this age group had never consumed alcohol or did not drink any in 2025.

The report highlighted that alcohol consumption in the EU was generally more prevalent among men than women, regardless of whether it was on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Specifically, 56.5% of men consumed alcohol at least once a month, compared to 35.9% of women.
