President Anastasiades has underlined the role that the cooperation between Cyprus and other countries in the region, such as Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia, can play towards the goal of the EU’s diversification of energy routes, in a tweet sent during the second day of the meeting of the European Council in Brussels.
Anastasiades writes that the meeting is an “extremely important discussion on Europe’s energy independence in the aftermath of the war in Ukraine, and the need to diversify EU energy sources”.
“? ?ffered my support to initiatives presented by EU Leaders, calling for collective actions that will safeguard our energy supply & protect our citizens and businesses from increase in energy prices” the President wrote, giving special thanks to Greek prime minister Kyriakos MItsotakis “for his efforts in this respect”.
