Cyprus Braces for Cooler Temperatures on Sunday and Monday

Taipei:Cyprus is set to experience cooler temperatures over the weekend, with Sunday and Monday expected to be notably cold, according to forecasts by the Meteorological Department.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Meteorological Department Officer Andreas Chrysanthou reported that rain was observed in the southern and southeastern areas of Troodos, particularly in the Lefkara region, on Saturday. The rain might develop into storms until the evening, after which the weather is expected to clear.

Chrysanthou stated that there may be brief rain in mountainous areas on Sunday, but from Sunday to Tuesday, the weather will mostly be clear with some transient clouds. By Tuesday evening, rain is anticipated along the western and northern coasts, while Wednesday is expected to be clear in most regions, with some rain in the mountainous areas during the afternoon.

A significant feature of the upcoming weather is the cold air mass affecting Cyprus from Saturday evening until Monday, which will cause temperatures to drop below the seasonal average. Temperatures are predicted to decline by two to three degrees Celsius from Saturday, ranging around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius inland and on the coasts, and about 3 to 4 degrees at night in the mountainous areas.

Chrysanthou noted that despite the cold conditions on Sunday and Monday, temperatures are expected to return to normal seasonal levels by Wednesday or Thursday. He also mentioned that the forecast does not include any weather phenomena that would necessitate a warning.
