Cyprus and Italy Forge Alliance to Address Shared Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Goals

Rome: Cyprus and Italy are aligning their efforts to tackle common objectives within the European Union and the broader Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions. This was affirmed by President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, during a joint statement in Rome, following President Christodoulides' official visit to the Italian capital.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the leaders announced plans to initiate discussions aimed at drafting a joint partnership document. This document will focus on addressing a series of shared priorities that both nations face in the region.

President Christodoulides highlighted Italy's favorable relations with Turkey and expressed optimism that Italy could play a pivotal role in achieving a mutually beneficial resolution to the Cyprus issue. Furthermore, he noted that Italy's involvement could foster positive developments in relations between the EU and Turkey.
